Metal Detector uses your iPhone's magnetometer sensor and is designed for fun and hobby use. It is NOT a professional metal detector. It can only detect ferromagnetic metals (iron, steel, nickel) and cannot detect gold, aluminum, copper, or other non-magnetic metals.

Quick Troubleshooting Steps

Before contacting support, please try these general troubleshooting steps:

Recalibrate in a Metal-Free Environment

Move away from metal objects, electronics, and vehicles. Tap the calibrate button to reset the baseline reading.

Adjust the Sensitivity Slider

If you're getting too many false positives, reduce sensitivity. If objects aren't being detected, increase sensitivity.

Remove Magnetic Phone Cases

MagSafe cases and magnetic mounts can interfere with the magnetometer. Remove them for best results.

Restart the App

Close the app completely and reopen it. On iOS, swipe up from the bottom and swipe the app away.

Check iOS Version

Metal Detector requires iOS 17.0 or later. Go to Settings > General > Software Update to check.

Reinstall the App (Last Resort)

Uninstall and reinstall the app. Your settings will be reset but your Pro purchase can be restored.

  • iOS: iOS 17.0 or later
  • Devices: iPhone only (no iPad support)
  • Sensor: Built-in magnetometer (all modern iPhones include this)
  • Storage: Minimal — the app is lightweight
