Privacy Policy
Effective Date: February 23, 2026
1. Our Privacy Promise
Dark Reader Mode for Safari collects ZERO personal data. No analytics. No tracking. No telemetry. No network requests. Everything happens 100% on your device. We never see, store, or transmit any information about you or your browsing.
This Privacy Policy explains our data practices for Dark Reader Mode for Safari (the "App" or "Extension"), developed by Storq Labs ("we," "us," or "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices — which, in this case, means telling you that we simply do not collect any data at all.
2. Information We Collect
We collect absolutely NO data. Period.
The Extension stores the following information locally on your device only using UserDefaults (shared App Group between the app and extension):
- Dark Mode Preferences: Whether dark mode is enabled globally or per-site
- Per-Site Settings: Domain name and associated preferences (dark mode on/off, brightness, contrast, warmth values)
- Display Settings: Color temperature, brightness, and contrast preferences
All settings are stored exclusively on your device using iOS sandboxed storage. We cannot access, view, or retrieve this information. Nothing ever leaves your device.
3. Information We Do NOT Collect
We want to be absolutely clear about what we do NOT do:
- We do NOT collect any personal identifying information
- We do NOT require account creation or login
- We do NOT track your browsing history or the URLs you visit
- We do NOT read page content, form data, or passwords
- We do NOT collect device identifiers or fingerprints
- We do NOT store any data on external servers or cloud services
- We do NOT use analytics, tracking SDKs, or telemetry of any kind
- We do NOT use Firebase, Amplitude, Mixpanel, TelemetryDeck, or any third-party analytics
- We do NOT make any network requests from the extension (zero network calls)
- We do NOT set, read, or modify cookies
- We do NOT sell, rent, or share any user data with third parties
- We do NOT access your bookmarks, history, or other browser data
- We do NOT collect usage data or behavioral analytics
4. How the Extension Works
Dark Reader Mode for Safari processes web pages entirely on your device:
- The extension reads CSS stylesheets on web pages to transform colors for dark mode (via the
document.styleSheetsAPI) - It injects override CSS stylesheets with dark mode colors
- It monitors DOM mutations to handle dynamically loaded content
- It reads the current page's URL hostname to apply per-site preferences
- All CSS manipulation happens in the Safari extension's content script — entirely on your device
- No data is ever sent to our servers or any third-party servers
Technical note: The extension does NOT read page content, form data, passwords, browsing history, or any personally identifiable information. It only reads and modifies CSS stylesheets to apply dark mode colors.
5. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services:
- Apple StoreKit 2: For in-app purchases (Pro subscription and lifetime unlock). Apple handles all payment processing. We never see or store payment information. The companion app only communicates with Apple's StoreKit servers for purchase verification.
- Apple App Store: Distribution platform. Subject to Apple's privacy and data handling policies.
No other third-party services or SDKs are used. Apple may collect standard App Store analytics (crash logs, purchase data) as part of their platform — this is Apple's collection, not ours.
6. Data Deletion
Since all data is stored locally on your device, you can delete all app data at any time by:
- Uninstalling the Dark Reader Mode app from your device, or
- Disabling the extension in Settings → Safari → Extensions
There is no data stored on our servers to delete because we never collect any data in the first place.
7. iCloud Sync (Future)
A future version of the App may include iCloud sync for settings. If implemented, this would use Apple's CloudKit framework to sync data to your own iCloud account — not to our servers. Your settings would remain under your control within Apple's ecosystem. We will update this Privacy Policy before any such feature is released.
8. Children's Privacy
Dark Reader Mode for Safari is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Since we collect no data at all, there is no risk of collecting children's data. If you believe a child under 13 has somehow provided personal information to us, please contact us — though given our zero-data-collection design, this is not technically possible.
9. Your Rights (GDPR, CCPA, and Other Regulations)
Under the GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, UK GDPR, LGPD, PIPEDA, and other privacy regulations, you may have rights including access, correction, deletion, portability, and objection to processing of your personal data.
Because we collect no personal data whatsoever:
- There is no personal data for us to provide, correct, delete, port, or stop processing
- You can delete all locally stored preferences by uninstalling the app
- No data subject access requests are necessary, as there is no server-side data
- We do not sell personal information (we have none to sell)
- We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising
If you have any questions about your rights, please contact us at hello@storqlabs.com.
10. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- We make no warranty regarding the quality of dark mode rendering on all websites
- We are not responsible for how websites appear after dark mode CSS transformations are applied
- We are not responsible for any website functionality that may be affected by CSS modifications
- We disclaim responsibility for the content, privacy practices, or terms of third-party websites you visit
- Our total liability arising from or related to your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App
11. Changes to This Policy
We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy at any time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. If we make material changes, we may notify you through the App or App Store update notes. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
12. Service Availability & Discontinuation
