1. Introduction

Welcome to StopBrainRot, a digital wellbeing iOS application developed by Storq Labs BV ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains our data practices and your privacy rights when using the app.

2. Information Stored Locally on Your Device

StopBrainRot stores the following information exclusively on your device using iOS UserDefaults, App Groups, and local storage:

• App Selections: Anonymized tokens representing which apps you've chosen to limit (we cannot see app names, only iOS-generated tokens)
• Blocking Rules: Your configured schedules, time limits, and friction level preferences
• Usage Statistics: Local counts of blocks, overrides, and streaks (aggregate numbers only)
• Reflection Text: Any text you write during the override flow (stored locally, never transmitted)
• Onboarding State: Whether you've completed setup
• User Preferences: Theme, notification settings, and other customizations

3. Information We Do NOT Collect

We want to be absolutely clear about what we do NOT do:

• We do NOT collect any personal identifying information
• We do NOT require account creation or login
• We do NOT transmit any data to external servers
• We do NOT see which apps you block (only anonymized iOS tokens are used)
• We do NOT access the content of your blocked apps (messages, photos, videos, etc.)
• We do NOT track your location
• We do NOT access your contacts, calendar, or other personal data
• We do NOT use analytics, tracking SDKs, or telemetry
• We do NOT sell, rent, or share any user data with third parties
• We do NOT monitor your actual usage of blocked apps
• We do NOT have access to your Screen Time data beyond what you configure in the app

4. How the App Works

StopBrainRot uses Apple's official Screen Time APIs (FamilyControls, ManagedSettings, DeviceActivity) to enable app blocking:

• App Selection: You select apps to limit using Apple's FamilyActivityPicker. This generates anonymized tokens—we never see actual app names or identifiers.
• Blocking Enforcement: iOS enforces the blocks at the system level. StopBrainRot configures the rules, but Apple's framework does the actual blocking.
• Shield Screen: When you try to open a blocked app, iOS displays our custom shield with optional friction mechanisms.
• Override Flow: You can always access blocked apps through the override mechanism or by adjusting Screen Time settings in iOS.

5. Third-Party Services

StopBrainRot uses the following third-party technologies:

• Expo SDK: React Native development framework. Does not collect user data.
• React Navigation: In-app navigation library. Does not collect user data.
• Zustand: Local state management. All data remains on device.
• Apple Screen Time APIs: iOS system APIs for app management. Governed by Apple's privacy policy.
• Apple StoreKit: For in-app purchases (if applicable). Governed by Apple's privacy policy.

The app is distributed through the Apple App Store. Apple's privacy policy and terms of service apply to the download, installation, and purchase process.

6. Screen Time Authorization

StopBrainRot requires Screen Time / Family Controls authorization to function. When you grant this permission:

• The app can configure blocking rules for apps you select
• The app receives anonymized app tokens (not actual app identifiers)
• You can revoke this permission at any time in iOS Settings
• Revoking permission will disable all blocking functionality

We do not receive any other Screen Time data, such as your overall device usage statistics, app usage history, or Screen Time reports.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

Since all data is stored locally on your device:

• Retention: Data is retained as long as the app is installed on your device
• Deletion: Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all locally stored data
• No Server Data: There is no data on our servers to delete because we never collect any

You have full control over your data at all times.

8. Children's Privacy

We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). Since we do not collect any data, there is no risk of collecting children's data. However, this app is not designed for minors and should only be used by adults.

9. International Users

StopBrainRot is available worldwide through the Apple App Store. Since all data is stored locally on your device and we do not transmit any data:

• There are no international data transfers
• Your data never leaves your device
• GDPR, CCPA, and other data protection regulations are respected by design (no data collection = no data processing concerns)

10. Your Rights

Because all data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control:

• Access: All your data is on your device and accessible to you
• Deletion: Uninstall the app to delete all data
• Portability: Your data remains on your device
• Restriction: You control all settings and can disable functionality at any time

Since we do not collect or process your personal data, traditional data subject rights (such as GDPR access requests) are not applicable—you already have full access to and control over all your data.

11. Digital Wellbeing Disclaimer

By using this app, you acknowledge that it is provided for digital wellbeing purposes only and that we make no medical, psychological, or therapeutic claims.

12. Changes to This Policy

We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy at any time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of the app after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Material changes may be communicated through app updates or notifications where feasible.

13. Service Availability

StopBrainRot relies on Apple's Screen Time APIs, which Apple may modify, restrict, or deprecate at any time. We cannot guarantee that the app will continue to function if Apple changes these APIs. For complete terms regarding service availability, please see our Terms of Service.
